There best time wildlife viewing months in Tanzania is during dry season from June to October. The best chance of seeing wildebeest migration in the Serengeti National park is during June and July and the best seeing wildebeest calving late January to February. The southern and western circuit parks are best visited during the dry-season {June to October} unlike the more popular northern circuit parks that can be visited year-round. Tarangire is the only exception although northern circuit’s wildlife viewing is considerably as well.

The dry month’s month offer good game viewing throughout Tanzania. Tarangire and the southern and western circuit parks including Katavi, Selous, and Ruaha are the best visited in the dry season from June to October.

June to October- Dry season

June-July – Best moths of seeing the wildebeest migration, animal are easier to spot since they concentrate around waterholes and rivers are there with less vegetation that can chance you to see wildebeest, There are few mosquitoes because there little no rain skies are clear and most days are sunny even though most tourist visit during the dry season, the parks still don’t feel crowded, except for the Seronera area in the Serengeti and the Ngorongoro crater. During the morning and night get cold. It’s recommended to bring warm clothing for morning game drives in an open vehicle the month of June, July and August.

November to May- Wet season

Late January to February is the time to see the calving in the southern Serengeti. This is an excellent time to see predator action. The scenery is green and beautiful. It’s less crowded parks. Although wildlife is easier to spot in the dry season, you will still see plenty and most northern circuit parks offer year-round game viewing. Migratory birds are present and bird watching is at its except for March, April and May rain are mostly short afternoon showers and seldom have a negative impact on your trip.

March to May- Peak of the wet season

Mostly big wildlife has migrated out of Tarangire National Park and game viewing in Katavi, Selous and Ruaha is clearly better during the dry season.
